How to Apply ISO 45001 Certification in Malaysia?
The ISO 45001 Certification is an International Standard for Occupational Health and Safety Management System that helps organizations prevent work-related injuries and illnesses and provides safe and healthy workplaces. This standard applies to all types of organizations, regardless of size or nature of work.
Additionally, certification to ISO 45001 can demonstrate an organization’s commitment to health and safety to customers, stakeholders, and regulatory authorities. The goal of ISO 45001 is the reduction of occupational injuries and diseases, including promoting and protecting physical and mental health. To get the organization’s ISO 45001 certification, the organization has to meet the criteria of ISO 45001 and be audited by the 3rd party ISO certification body.
Here is the Process to get ISO 45001 certification in Malaysia
Step 1: Define your objective, Scope, and Policy to implement ISO 45001 Standard
– Objective : Goal to be achieved
– Policy : Intentions and direction of an organization
– Scope : Determine the boundaries and applicability of the OH&S, helps an organization to achieve the intended outcomes of its OH&S management system.
Step 2: Establish the ISO 45001 Occupational Health and Safety Management System in the organization. You can refer to the ISO 45001 requirements
Step 3: Train the employee on the knowledge of ISO 45001 and Implement the requirements in your organization
Step 4: Form an Internal Audit team. Self-check based on ISO 45001 requirements
–The organization shall conduct internal audits at planned intervals to check the conformity and the effective implementation of ISO 45001
Step 5: Conduct Management review. Top management shall review the organization’s ISO 45001 system to ensure its continuing suitability, adequacy, and effectiveness
Step 6: Engage the Certification Body for the external audit
Step 7 : ISO 45001 Certificate Awarded. Organization will be certified to ISO45001 when the external audit completed and successfully close the findings.
Step 8: Conduct an internal audit and management review every year at least once before the external audit.
Step 9: The Certification Body will conduct an external audit – Surveillance Audit/ Recertification to the certified organization every year
